That's Amore

February seems like the appropriate month to show off this painting.  I started this work a few months ago and just recently had time to finish it..  Once out of my dark studio and up in natural light, it won my heart (ha-ha).  I love how the copper and antique silver paint compliment each other and are tied together with the tinted glaze.  I hope the texture shows in the photo, it really works.
On a personal note, this post would seem very incomplete without a mention of gratitude to the worlds greatest Valentine for his endless love and encouragement.  I am so lucky.

Irrational Numbers & Anticipation

My mathematical-brained sister & her equally genius husband moved themselves to the Midwest this past August.
I thought I better paint them something, lest they forget all about us. This little canvas board has a complicated, but sunny feel to it.  What I know about irrational numbers?  Only that I love a good slice of pie...

Swaying Blooms

I had a fine time painting something representational last week.  I love experimenting with gold and copper backgrounds; the little, red swaying blooms really pop. It would be nice to do something larger in scale, but similar for my little girl's room.

Triptych

A blank red wall stared at me every time I entered the lobby of my husband's business...I just had to do something about it.
Creating this large triptych (each panel is 2' x 4') was about playing around with different color fields, adding pewter accents at the transitions.   Luckily, my husband and his business partner were nice enough to indulge me by letting me hang them up.  It was hard to get a great photo, but I think the general idea comes across.

Piazza San Marco

Have you ever been to Venice?  Simply magical, no doubt about it.  This 12" x 12" work was inspired by the light, water, music and golden accents of Piazza San Marco.
I can't help but reflect on my twenty year old self, splurging on the unheard of amount of $10 for a bottle of Coke and the privilege of sitting amidst the opulence of the square.  Ahhhh....Who's ready to go?  Me!  Today!

Copper Sunset

I finished this work back in May...I am really happy with how it turned out.  I think it is a calming influence in the busiest room in the house.  I hung it above the fireplace in my family room.  It's 30" x 40"; a great size...room for the colors and composition to spread out and find their own perfect groove.
